Configure what the chat widget displays and how it looks
In the sidebar, Chat → Design lets you configure the text, colors, position, and more for your chat widget. You can edit while checking your changes instantly in the preview on the right side of the screen.
- There are two tabs: "Content" and "Style" (on smartphones, a "Preview" tab is also shown).
- Save each tab with "Save Changes". If you try to switch tabs or leave the page without saving, a confirmation message appears.
- The preview can switch between three views: "Initial", "Conversation", and "Contact".

Chat Settings

Quick Questions
Suggested questions shown when the chat opens. Customers can ask with a single tap.
- Up to 5 questions, 20 characters each
- Type a question in the input field and press "+" or Enter to add it; delete it with the trash icon
When an agent is created, the welcome message and suggested questions are set automatically based on your website. Review them and adjust as needed.
Contact Feature
Lets customers submit a contact form from within the chat. For setup instructions, see Set up a contact form.
Watermark Settings
Toggles the "Powered by NEWT Chat" label at the bottom of the widget. Hiding it is available on the Suite plan and above.

Widget Appearance
- Header & Send Button Color: The color of the chat window's header and send button. "Reset" returns it to the default brand color.
Chat Bubble Configuration
The chat bubble is the button shown at the edge of your website's screen that opens the chat.

Widget Position

Position settings are not reflected in the preview. It may also take a few minutes after saving for changes to appear on the site where the widget is embedded.
Check your settings
Saved changes are applied to your site automatically — no need to re-paste the embed code. Check the actual look in Test or on the site where the widget is installed.
