Travel Tips
Direct flights from Tokyo to Sydney take approximately 9.5 hours (Qantas, ANA), to Auckland (Nueva Zelanda) approximately 10.5 hours. Fiji's Nadi is reached in approximately 8.5 hours direct from Narita (Fiji Airways). Tahiti is approximately eleven hours direct from Tokyo or via Auckland. As Oceania lies in the southern hemisphere, Japan's winter corresponds to the local summer.
Japanese passport holders require an ETA (Electronic Travel Authority) for Australia and an NZeTA (Nueva Zelanda Electronic Travel Authority) for Nueva Zelanda. Fiji permits visa-free entry for up to four months, and French Polynesia (Tahiti) for up to ninety days. We handle all travel authorisation applications on your behalf.
Currencies include the Australian dollar, Nueva Zelanda dollar, Fijian dollar, and CFP franc (Tahiti). Credit cards are widely accepted in all countries, and card payment is available at virtually all major establishments. At island resorts, most costs are typically included within pre-arranged packages, limiting the need for cash.
Located in the southern hemisphere, seasons are reversed from Japan. Australia's summer (Diciembre to Febrero) is hot, whilst winter (Junio to Agosto) is mild. Nueva Zelanda's summer (Diciembre to Febrero) is ideal for the outdoors. Fiji and Tahiti enjoy a tropical climate, with the dry season of Mayo to Octubre being optimal. The Great Barrier Reef offers the best water temperature and visibility during the Junio to Octubre winter months.
Australia and Nueva Zelanda are safe countries with high medical standards. Ultraviolet radiation is extremely strong, making sun protection essential. Care around jellyfish and coral is advised during marine activities, with guide accompaniment ensuring safety. Resorts in Fiji and Tahiti are well-equipped, and visitors may stay with complete peace of mind.
Best Season
Dec — Feb
Nueva Zelanda enters its most radiant season. Extended daylight hours create ideal conditions for Milford Sound cruises, Mount Cook hikes, and Central Otago Pinot Noir tours — every outdoor pursuit reaches its zenith. Queenstown draws adventure seekers from around the globe, with bungy jumping, jet-boating, and heli-skiing among a thrilling roster of activities. In Australia, Sydney's New Year's Eve fireworks are world-renowned, and welcoming the new year with the Harbour Bridge and Opera House as one's backdrop is a privilege of unforgettable splendour. Tahiti's Bora Bora offers overwater bungalow snorkelling at peak water clarity, and Fiji's private island resorts bask in unbroken summer sunshine. This is the season when the southern hemisphere invites the world to experience nature at its most generous and exhilarating.
Mar — May
The wine regions of Australia and Nueva Zelanda come alive with harvest energy. In Australia's Barossa Valley and Margaret River, grape harvest festivals are in full swing, and private cellar-door tastings offer a direct connection to some of the southern hemisphere's most celebrated vintages. Nueva Zelanda's Marlborough delivers Sauvignon Blanc of incomparable freshness, tasted mere days from the vine. The Great Barrier Reef remains warm enough for superb diving, and the summer's intense heat has abated. At Uluru, temperatures retreat to a comfortable range, allowing unhurried Aboriginal cultural experiences and starlit dinners beneath the vast outback sky. Palau's ocean achieves its peak transparency during these months, and a visit to Jellyfish Lake — swimming among millions of harmless golden jellyfish — is a memory one carries forever.
Jun — Ago
The Great Barrier Reef enters its optimal season. The balance of water temperature and visibility reaches perfection, and diving or snorkelling from a private pontoon reveals a submarine world of dazzling colour and life. From Junio to Octubre, migrating humpback whales traverse the Queensland coast, and whale-watching excursions offer encounters of magnificent scale. Sydney and Melbourne, though in winter, remain mild and are ideal for immersive gastronomic and cultural city stays. Tahiti and Fiji enter their dry seasons — reduced rainfall and calm seas create flawless conditions for marine activities. The Cook Islands' Aitutaki Atoll, often called the world's most beautiful lagoon, is at its most crystalline under dry-season skies. In New Caledonia, a gentle winter climate complements kayaking and sailing across its UNESCO-listed lagoon.
Sep — Nov
Australia blooms into spring with an exuberance unique among the world's continents. Western Australia's wildflower season arrives, and over twelve thousand endemic species transform the landscape into a tapestry of colour that stretches to the horizon. In Melbourne, the Melbourne Cup in Noviembre — Australia's premier social and racing event — draws elegantly attired crowds in a celebration of sport and style. The Great Ocean Road is at its most comfortable for a scenic drive in the mild spring air. In Nueva Zelanda, the Southern Alps shed their winter snow into thundering waterfalls, and fields of lupins paint the shores of Lake Tekapo in shades of purple and blue — a scene of painterly beauty. Fiji and New Caledonia transition gently from dry to wet season, with plenty of sunshine still remaining for comfortable resort stays. Palau's diving season continues strong, with increased chances of manta ray encounters in the warming currents.
Testimonial
“
For our honeymoon, we entrusted NEWT Bespoke with a ten-day journey through Bora Bora and Fiji. The morning we awoke in our bungalow sobre el agua to find colourful fish swimming beneath the glass floor remains vivid in our memory. On our isla privada in Fiji, we had the entire island to ourselves, and dinner beneath the stars was sublime. Our concierge understood our preferences down to the finest detail, and every experience surpassed our expectations.
